Track Walk Is Back For 2025

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is bringing back a fan favourite with the Track Walk returning for the first time since 2023 at this year's FORMULA 1 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos today joined Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Travis Auld at Albert Park to announce that sports fans will once again be able to walk the Albert Park circuit when the Grand Prix finishes on Sunday, 16 March.

As part of the track walk returning there will be a range of measures to ensure it can return safely, including purpose-built barrier gates to allow controlled access to the track, increased track protection infrastructure and increased security.

This year's Grand Prix will be bigger and better than ever - with a family-friendly festival announced just two days ago for F1 fans of all ages to enjoy, for free. Running from Wednesday, 12 March to Sunday, 16 March at Melbourne Park Oval, the festival is another chance for sports fans to immerse themselves in all things F1.

This year's FORMULA 1 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX is set for another record-breaking year, with tickets already sold out on Saturday and Sunday and only limited availability remaining for the Friday. The 2024 Grand Prix attracted a crowd of 452,055 people - beating the previous record set in 2023 by more than 7,000 people.

Secured in Melbourne until 2037, every year the Grand Prix brings a huge influx of interstate and overseas visitors to Victoria - providing a massive boost to local hotels and restaurants and backing businesses and jobs.

The Grand Prix is a cornerstone of Victoria's pipeline of major sporting events - alongside the Australian Open, the AFL Grand Final, the Boxing Day Test and soon regular season NFL games. These major events inject $3.3 billion into Victoria's economy annually, and back local businesses and jobs right across the state.
