Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Finds In Southern Suburbs

Two people were arrested after a traffic stop in the southern suburbs which led officers to search two properties for drugs.

It will be alleged that about 7.15pm on Monday 12 August, police stopped a speeding car on Ipari Terrace at Morphett Vale.

The car was searched, and police allegedly uncovered numerous illicit drugs including 28 deal bags containing cannabis and 102 capsules of hallucinogens (crushed illegal mushroom powder).

A 48-year-old Morphett Vale man and a 44-year-old Edwardstown woman in the vehicle were arrested.

Police later searched an Edwardstown address and located 381 capsules containing controlled mushrooms along with about 200g of powdered mushrooms and 74 capsules containing cannabis.

At an Ipari Terrace, Morphett Vale house police located an illicit mushroom farm and evidence of cannabis oil/butter production.

More than 2000 capsules containing controlled mushroom powder and about three kilograms of dried cannabis were also located.

The pair were charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.

The man was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 26 September and the woman was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 29 October.

Investigations are ongoing and further charges may be laid.

Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch remain at the Morphett Vale house as other items are being seized.
