Transport Union Agrees to Same Job, Same Pay Policy

Statement from Jetstar:

Following discussions with the two unions representing Team Jetstar and Altara Cabin Crew members, Jetstar can confirm it has reached in principle agreement (subject to consultation) with the Transport Workers Union (TWU) in relation to their applications under the Federal Government's 'Same Job Same Pay' legislation.

Jetstar continues to have constructive conversations with the Flight Attendants' Association of Australia (FAAA) regarding their application.

Jetstar has been committed to finding the best outcome for its people and business during talks over recent months and the proposed agreement between Jetstar and the TWU will ensure cabin crew receive pay changes that balance the impact of the new legislation while supporting the airline's low fares business model and ongoing investments in fleet and network growth.

Under the proposed changes, which are subject to processes under the Fair Work Act, Cabin Crew members will receive substantial increases to their salary and allowances while maintaining various previously secured conditions.

Jetstar is continuing to work closely with the TWU to finalise the proposed agreement with proposed salary increases backdated to the beginning of November.

The Same Job Same Pay legislation passed the parliament in December 2023 and Jetstar thanks its cabin crew for their patience as the airline worked through the complexity.

Comments from Jetstar Group CEO, Stephanie Tully

"Cabin crew are at the heart of our operation and this proposed agreement recognises their hard work and dedication to low fares flying.

"We've worked together with the TWU to navigate the new legislation and come to an in-principle agreement that delivers wage increases for our cabin crew while also ensuring we support our low fares business model and enable future growth."
