Trauma-informed Care Good For Patient And Physician

Australian Medical Association

Join AMA24 on the Gold Coast next month to be inspired by the latest insights in healthcare practice.

The countdown is on until 2 August when AMA24 launches! We're continuing to highlight speakers and sessions from our packed event program.

On day one of the conference we present the session 'Trauma-informed care, a natural paradigm for quality medical care' featuring Dr Johanna Lynch, a Senior Lecturer and post-doctoral researcher at The University of Queensland and Immediate Past President of the Australian Society for Psychological Medicine. She now consults to a national domestic violence project, teaches, and mentors clinicians in trauma-informed care.

The session will discuss the concept of trauma-informed care as a natural part of everyday medical care across the specialties that has implications for therapeutic relationships, diagnosis, management and self-care, and will also touch on how these concepts can guide our own approaches to self-care as clinicians.

The session will be chaired by Dr Antonio Di Dio and includes plenty of time for a Q+A session.

The full program and all conference information, including accommodation, social events and event registration can be found on the AMA24 conference website.
