An influx of visitors to the Region is expected for two sports tourism events early in 2024, which today (Tuesday, December 19, 2023) each received $5000 Sports Tourism grants provided by Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC).
The 2024 Equestrian Queensland Youth Development Camp, which will be held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds from January 12 to 14, and the International Legends of Rugby League event, to be held at Club Pittsworth from February 14 to 17, were awarded the grants at the December Ordinary Meeting of Council.
TRC Environment and Community Services Committee chair Cr James O'Shea said each proposal was assessed to provide a wider social and economic benefit to the community.
"Council is pleased to offer Sports Tourism grants to support these two event organisers," Cr O'Shea said.
"The 2024 Equestrian Queensland Youth Development Camp offers training for 12 to 25-year-old equestrian athletes and their horses.
