TRC Joins Voices Honoring Pope Francis' Legacy

Toowoomba Region Mayor Cr Geoff McDonald today (Tuesday, April 22, 2025) joined the chorus expressing sympathy and praise for the life and work of Pope Francis, who died aged 88 in Rome on Monday.

Mayor McDonald said Pope Francis's life and ministry had touched millions of Catholics and people of other faiths around the world.

"Pope Francis was noted for his compassion and humility in his dealings with people regardless of their position in society," Mayor McDonald said.

"His life of humble service is an example that will continue to inspire others to be kind and help people in troubled circumstances.

"His loss will be felt deeply by many Catholics and other residents across our Region and the nation."

In line with national protocols, Toowoomba's City Hall flag will fly at half mast as a mark of respect.
