Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has begun the process of establishing a Service Delivery and Sustainability Branch within the organisation to focus on continually improving Council's operations and service delivery.
TRC Deputy Mayor and Finance and Business Strategy Committee Chair Cr Geoff McDonald said Council had taken these steps to further support its long-term sustainability.
"Effectively, what we're doing is providing resources to assist management consider and implement how we can improve the way we do business," Cr McDonald said.
"Every day our workforce is very busy delivering a range of services, projects and programs, however, it is crucial that we also invest time and resources into 'how' we undertake and deliver these essential services.
"We've chosen this model to ensure we're meeting community expectations with desired standards of service, while balancing financial pressures.
"Council has a responsibility to continuously monitor, adjust and close the gap between service delivery and community expectations.
"The Service Delivery and Sustainability Branch will work alongside and assist all functional areas of Council to provide the strategic assistance, analysis and support that is designed to improve the way we serve our community."
As part of the Council decision on 20 April 2021, Council will begin a consultation process with affected staff to establish the Service Delivery and Sustainability Branch.
