Council will be carrying out important tree management works along Mt Barker Road in Stirling throughout the week in preparation for the installation of in tree LED string lighting.
Tree maintenance pruning works are required to improve safety and reduce the likelihood of brittle deadwood and poorly attached branch failure occurring.
The following works will be carried out:
- Removal and replacement of two English Oak trees (adjacent to the Stirling Day Night Pharmacy) and one Liquidambar tree (adjacent to Telstra phone box).
- Maintenance pruning of eight mature English Oak trees.
- Targeted crown reduction pruning works / replacement of dynamic cable bracing within one mature Pin Oak tree.
Site 1 - Eastern side of Mount Barker Road, Stirling from property numbers 1/3-5 (Oak Corner) to 27 Mount Barker Road (former CBA bank building).
Site 2 - Western side of Mount Barker Road, Stirling adjacent to 26 Mount Barker Road (former NAB bank building).
Traffic flow impacts
Traffic controls will be in place to ensure the safety of all workers and the public.
- During the works a comprehensive work zone traffic management plan will be implemented with speed restrictions in place.
- While the majority of these works will not impact upon Mount Barker Road traffic flow, at times stop / go traffic control commands may be employed to facilitate these works.
- Footpath access restrictions will be implemented underneath the trees while works occur.
- Pedestrian access into all businesses will be maintained throughout the duration of the works.
- Oak Plaza driveway access off Mount Barker Road will be restricted for periods during the works.
Kerbside parking impacts
To enable these works to occur, ten kerbside parking bays, one loading bay and one disabled parking bay will be closed for the duration of the project.
