Trees For Bubs: Bayside

Bayside Council is working closely with the Bayside Garden Centre to provide native trees to residents who want to commemorate the birth, adoption or guardianship of a child by planting a tree in their garden.

The initiative will encourage residents to plant and nurture a native tree in their yard that will grow with their child, while also helping to increase the tree canopy in Bayside.

Eligible residents can fill out a form on Council's website to claim a $20 voucher to purchase a suitable tree from the Bayside Garden Centre.

Council will also provide a commemorative letter, including a list of suitable trees for front or backyard planting and a temporary commemorative tree tag.

Increasing Bayside's green canopy may also help mitigate flooding and heat effects with one mature tree able to absorb 3,400 litres of stormwater and filter 27kg of pollutants.

The trees will be supplied by the Bayside Garden Centre which is open to the public and has approximately 80,000 plants available for sale.
