Trio Charged in Central Coast Break-In

Three people have been charged following an investigation into an alleged break and enter at Chittaway Bay yesterday morning.

About 3.45am yesterday (Tuesday 1 April 2025), a Cash Redemption Terminal (CRT) was allegedly stolen from a licenced premises on Chittaway Road.

Police were notified and were told the CRT had been taken from the premises and placed onto a trailer being towed by a silver Toyota SUV.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District established a crime scene at the location and commenced inquiries into the incident.

A short time later, emergency services were called to a vehicle fire on the M1 at Ourimbah which was confirmed to be the vehicle used in the break and enter.

Following extensive inquiries, officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District attended a home on Langford Drive, Kariong, about 8am yesterday (Tuesday 1 April 2025).

Upon police arrival, officers stopped and spoke with a man who was observed leaving the premises.

During a subsequent search of the man, officers allegedly located and seized $50,000 cash.

The 29-year-old man was arrested along with two other men at the property, aged 26 and 29.

They were taken to Gosford Police Station where they assisted police with inquiries.

A search warrant was simultaneously executed at the Kariong property, allegedly revealing items of interest including a money counter, tools, and safes.

A 29-year-old man was charged with nine offences:

  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (three counts),
  • Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence in company steal (two counts)
  • Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence,
  • Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty,
  • Deal with property proceeds of crime < $100000, and
  • Possess prohibited drug.

The other 29-year-old man was charged with 10 offences:

  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (three counts),
  • Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence in company steal (two counts)
  • Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence,
  • Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit,
  • Use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order,
  • Possess housebreaking implements, and
  • Possess prohibited drug.

The 26-year-old man was charged with two offences:

  • Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence in company steal, and
  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

All three were refused bail to appear before Gosford Local Court today (Wednesday 2 April 2025).

Inquiries are ongoing.
