A state-of-the-art community centre has officially opened its doors in Truganina, offering a wide range of facilities for families in Melbourne's growing west, thanks to the support of the Allan Labor Government.
Minister for Suburbs Sonya Kilkenny joined Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn and Member for Laverton Sarah Connolly to celebrate the opening of the $18.4 million Truganina Community Centre, jointly funded by the Labor Government, Wyndham City Council and developers.
The centre has a number of facilities for young families including kindergarten rooms for three and four-year-olds, playgroups, maternal and child health consulting suites.
It also features a 500 square metre library lounge with technology and study spaces, multipurpose community and meeting rooms, a community kitchen, staff offices, accessible amenities, outdoor areas, and on-site parking.
The Labor Government contributed $8.5 million to the centre, with funding coming from the Growing Suburbs Fund, Building Blocks Infrastructure Program and the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
The Growing Suburbs Fund represents a $440 million Labor Government investment over 10 years, providing more than $1.3 billion of critical local infrastructure in Victoria's fastest-growing suburbs.
