The results of the British Times Higher Education (THE) ranking of the world's leading universities in Arts and Humanities have been released. TSU has confirmed its high position - as it was last year, it was in the group 201-250.
The ranking contains the best universities in the world that train specialists in art, performing arts, and design; languages, literature, and linguistics; history, philosophy and theology; architecture; and archaeology. Universities are assessed for each of these subjects according to five criteria: teaching (the learning environment); research (volume, income and reputation); citations (research influence); international outlook (staff, students and research); industry income (innovation).
- TSU has confirmed its high position in the subject rating of Times Higher Education (THE) in Art and Humanities. As we did last year, we entered the group 201-250. A classical university with 140 years of history and rich traditions is strong in the humanities, - said the TSU Rector Eduard Galazhinsky. - A high position in the ranking is the result of the constant work of the TSU team and the reengineering of the educational process.
The TSU Graduate School of Journalism takes an active part in promoting the university in arts and humanities by attracting reputable partners and implementing new educational programs, one of which received international accreditation and became the first in Russia in which experts from China took part. A great contribution to the development of the humanities is made by a team of linguists led by Professor Zoya Rezanova. Scientists solve the problems of automatic analysis of the natural language, the perception of the text among various social and psychological types, and the study of languages of Southern Siberia.
High positions of the university are also promoted by the reassembled Faculty of History, which was joined by political scientists. So, the TSU Faculty of Historical and Political Studies has developed an alternative history course, in which students not only get basic knowledge, but also determine how reliable modern historical films are, work in Tomsk archives, discuss the events of the past, and learn to determine what information in the Internet is true and which is fake.
