The Tung Auditorium, the University of Liverpool's state-of-the-art, world-class concert hall launches its new Autumn 2024 programme today, with a fantastic mix of new artists and returning favourites.

The eclectic line-up at the 400 seat, acoustically optimised, flexible music performance space features a huge variety of performers through its doors for its latest public programme of events.

British jazz legend Courtney Pine OBE returns to The Tung on his 60th birthday tour for a special concert presented in partnership with BlackFest. On Friday 27 September, Courtney will bring together musicians from Africa, the Caribbean and Europe for a vibrant and exhilarating mix of merengue, ska, mento and calypso as played through the lens (saxophone) of a UK born artist with strong, proud Afro-Caribbean roots.

Senegalese sensation Seckou Keita makes his debut at the Tung on Sunday 10 November, backed by an electrifying six-piece band of influential Senegalese musicians.

Critically acclaimed local legends Ex-Easter Island Head will bring a mesmeric live performance on Friday 29 November with some very special guests, whilst the ever-innovative Manchester Collective return on Saturday 16 November, this time collaborating with sensational South African cellist Abel Selaocoe.

The University's longstanding partnership with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic continues with two concerts led by Chief Conductor Domingo Hindoyan on Thursday 26 and Sunday 29 September, plus the return of their contemporary music group Ensemble 10:10 on Wednesday 20 November.

The much-loved free lunchtime concert series returns on Wednesday 25 September at 1pm with violin sonatas from Beethoven and Coleridge-Taylor performed by Elodie Chousmer-Howelles and Stella Lorenz.

The bumper programme wouldn't be complete without the Liverpool University Music Society Winter Concert on Friday 13 December, followed by a festive fanfare from Liverpool Welsh Choral (Saturday 14 December) and a musical spectacular from the 17-piece Danny Miller Big Band (Sunday 15 December), to usher in the Christmas season.

The Tung Auditorium Artistic Director, Richard Hartwell said: "We're really excited to be launching our latest season of events with incredible collaborations with partners old and new from across the region.

"This is now the start of our third full year as a venue and we're thrilled to once again be bringing so many fantastic musicians to our world-class concert hall.

"Have a look at the full line up on our website and please check back for new events which will be added throughout the year."

The Tung Auditorium is situated in the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre at the University of Liverpool on the corner of Grove Street and Oxford Street. To view the Autumn 2024 programme, and to book your tickets, please visit: https://thetungauditorium.com/events/
