Police have charged a woman and a teenage boy with several offences including a firearm following a dangerous vehicle stop at a property at Elsmore, 10km east of Inverell, NSW Police say.
About 8.30am yesterday, police were called to Elsmore Road, Elsmore following reports of a suspicious vehicle.
An allegedly stolen white Ford Falcon bearing no registration plates was spotted by officers attached to New England Local Area Command on Silvermines Road, Elsmore.
Police carried out a dangerous vehicle stop and arrested a 22-year-old woman and a 17-year-old teenage boy due to the occupants believed to be in possession of a firearm (rifle).
During a search of the vehicle police will allege they located ammunition, firearm accessories, three chains saws, a safe, and numerous other tools and fencing equipment.
The woman and teenage boy were taken to Inverell Police Station where they were later charged.
The 22-year-old woman was charged with break, enter and steal, enter inclosed lands, custody of a knife in a public place, goods in custody, possess unauthorised firearm and possess ammunition without holding a licence/permit.
The 17-year-old teen was charged with break, enter and steal, enter inclosed lands, destroy or damage property x 2, possess unauthorised firearm and drive motor vehicle while licence suspended.
Both were refused bail and have already appeared at Inverell Bail Court today.
The woman was refused bail to reappear at Inverell Local Court on Thursday 27 April, 2017.
The teen was granted conditional bail to reappear at a children’s court on Thursday 27 April, 2017.
