At around 1pm today, police and emergency services attended a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Howick and Wellington Streets in Launceston.
A blue Ford station wagon traveling west on Howick Street and a blue Toyota van travelling south on Wellington Street collided in the middle of the intersection.
The Ford was driven by an 80-year-old woman from Hadspen, who was taken to the Launceston General Hospital with minor injuries.
The Toyota was driven by a 37-year-old woman from Launceston, who was uninjured in the crash.
Both women were the sole occupants of the vehicles.
"The driver of the Ford was trapped in her car for a short time, with a number of members of the public including an off-duty nurse stopping to render assistance to her before emergency services arrived on the scene," Sergeant Smith said.
"Traffic was disrupted for a short time while emergency services freed the Hadspen lady from her car."
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
