Operation Trinity officers have interviewed three men after two vehicles evaded police through Melbourne early this morning.
Police spotted a silver Holden Calais driving erratically on Abbotts Road in Dandenong just before midnight.
Despite officers successfully deploying stop sticks on Cranbourne-Frankston Road in Frankston, the Holden continued driving until it entered a nearby carpark on Cranbourne-Frankston Road in Cranbourne.
The five occupants allegedly dumped the Holden in the car park, before taking off in a blue MG station wagon.
Officers spotted the MG driving erratically along Peninsula Link Freeway and the Nepean Highway a short time later.
The vehicle allegedly ran several red lights, before turning onto Warrigal Road in Chadstone.
Police deployed tyre deflation devices on the Warrigal Road entry ramp, but the MG continued east on the Monash, before allegedly performing a u-turn and travelling on the wrong side of the freeway.
The MG was dumped on the Monash Freeway in Malvern East, where six occupants got out of the vehicle.
Officers moved in swifty and arrested four men at the scene.
A 25-year-old Doveton man, a 19-year-old Hallam man and a 27-year-old Skye man were interviewed by police.
They were released and are expected to be charged on summons in relation to the incident.
A 22-year-old Langwarrin man remains in hospital and is also expected to be charged on summons.
Two offenders remain outstanding, and the investigation is ongoing.
Victoria Police has been specifically targeting burglars and car thieves each night since March 2023.
Operation Trinity, which runs from dusk until dawn across Melbourne is easily Victoria Police's most well-resourced frontline policing operation at present.
On top of standard patrols, there are another 70 police including members of the Dog Squad, Public Order Response and Air Wing, specifically tasked with preventing and responding to burglaries and car thefts each night.
As a result of this intense focus, police arrested 651 burglars and car thieves almost 1,500 times over the past year.
A further 7,200 people have been processed for other offences detected by police working nightshift across the Trinity area of operations.
Latest police intelligence indicates around 60% of all aggravated burglaries in key hotspots are through unlocked doors/windows or unsuccessful attempts when the offender has discovered the property is locked.
As such, police implore the community to take simple steps such as locking all doors and windows on your home and car.
The data tells us that if you lock your doors, your chances of falling victim dramatically decrease.
