Two Charged, 300+ Weapons Seized in Strike Force Dudi

Two men have been charged after more than 300 weapons have been seized as part of an ongoing investigation under Strike Force Dudi.

In March 2024, officers from South Sydney Police Area Command established Strike Force Dudi to investigate an affray involving a number of men on Elizabeth Street, Waterloo.

A number of people have since been charged and remain before the courts.

During investigations, Strike Force Dudi investigators identified that prohibited weapons were allegedly being sold from businesses in Haymarket.

As a result of ongoing investigations officers yesterday (Thursday 18 July 2024) executed search warrants at businesses on Hay Street, Haymarket, and homes in Amos Street, Westmead and Shepherd Street, Cherrybrook.

During the search police seized in excess 300 prohibited weapons, including flick knives, sheath knives, butterfly knives, Zombie knives, push daggers and concealed blades.

Two men – aged 45 and 60 – were arrested in Haymarket and taken to Day Street Police Station where they were each charged with:

- Possess or use prohibited weapon without permit

- Sell prohibited weapon to person without permit

- Dealer buy/sell/manufacture prohibited weapon without permit

- Buy prohibited weapon when not authorised to possess it

- Contravene section 23A on 3 or more separate occasions

- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

Both men were bail refused to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Friday 19 July 2024).

Inquiries under Strike Force Dudi are ongoing.
