Two men have been charged with traffic and drug offences following a pursuit and crash earlier today.
About 10.20am (Tuesday 14 January 2025), police attempted to stop a vehicle on the M1, near Wyong Road Tuggerah, due to it allegedly being reported stolen.
When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued to Somersby where it was terminated due to the manner of driving.
PolAir continued to monitor the vehicle in the local area, and about 10.50am (Tuesday 14 January 2025), the vehicle came to a sudden stop at Somersby before a truck crashed into the rear of the vehicle. No injuries were reported following the crash.
Two men ran from the vehicle; however, they were both arrested following a short foot pursuit.
The two men - aged 28 and 35 - were arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station.
A subsequent search of the men allegedly revealed amounts of 1,4-Butanediol and cannabis which were seized by police.
The younger man was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The older man was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, not comply P2 licence condition not display P plates, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, supply prohibited drug, and possess prohibited drug.
Both men were refused bail to appear before Gosford Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 15 January 2025).
