Two Charged After Dover Heights Pursuit Investigation

Two people will face court today following an investigation into an allegedly stolen car that was used in a pursuit in Dover Heights last month.

About 8.20am on Thursday 25 July 2024, officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were called to a street in Dover Heights, following reports a man wearing a balaclava and carrying a pistol had approached a car stopped on the street.

A short time later, the man left the scene in a car.

Following inquiries, police observed the vehicle travelling along Old South Head Road, Bondi and attempted to stop it, however, the driver allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

Two men – aged 20 and 24 – were arrested and charged with a number of offences. They remain before the court.

Strike Force Saltcoats was established to investigate circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, police with the assistance of North West Metropolitan Region's Operations Support Group, executed a search warrant about 7am yesterday (Tuesday 27 August 2024), at a home in Saddington Road, St Marys.

Police arrested a 42-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman at the home and they were taken to Penrith Police Station.

The man was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner and drive while licence cancelled.

The woman was charged with be carried in conveyance without consent of owner.

They were bail refused to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Wednesday 28 August 2024).
