Two men have been charged after drugs were allegedly found inside a car in the state's central west.
About 1.45am today (Thursday 2 January 2025), officers attached to Central West Police District stopped a car on the Northern Distributor Road, Orange, for the purpose of a roadside testing.
The driver, a 41-year-old man, returned a negative result and police allegedly observed a knife in the rear passenger footwell.
A 42-year-old male passenger was searched and police allegedly found a white substance in resealable bags and $3255 in cash.
The man allegedly deliberately smashed his mobile phone, rendering it inoperable.
Officers searched the car and found 140 grams of methylamphetamine in a compartment in the dash.
The items were seized and will undergo forensic testing.
Both men were arrested and taken to Orange Police Station.
The 42-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity; deal with proceeds of indictable crime; and possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Friday 3 January 2025.
Police will further in court the 140 grams of methylamphetamine located in a compartment in the dash and 2.9 grams of the same drug belonged to the 42-year-old man.
The 41-year-old man was charged with possess prohibited drug.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Orange Local Court on Thursday 20 February 2025.
Police will allege in court the 41-year-old man had 0.3 grams of methylamphetamine.
