Two Charged After Fatal Gun Discharge in Windellama

A man and a teenager have been charged following the fatal unintentional discharge of a firearm in the state's south yesterday.

About 11.20am (Sunday 13 April 2025), emergency services were called to a property on Fernleigh Close, Windellama, following reports of a shooting.

On arrival, officers attached to The Hume Police District were told a 9-year-old boy had been injured after the unintentional discharge of a firearm.

The boy was treated for serious neck injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Dalzeill into the incident.

Following inquiries a 14-year-old boy and a 33-year-old man were arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station.

The 14-year-old boy was charged with possess unauthorised firearm and granted conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Thursday 17 April 2025.

The 33-year-old man was charged with allow unauthorised person to possess firearm and not keep firearm safely and will appear before Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 14 May 2025.
