Police have charged a woman and man following a pursuit with police in the state’s south, NSW Police say.
Police will allege a Holden Commodore was stolen from Victoria yesterday (Tuesday 20 November 2018), after the owner was forced out of the vehicle.
The vehicle was involved in a number of pursuits with police in the Murray River and Riverina Police Districts.
Later that same day, the Holden Commodore was seen by police travelling on the Olympic Highway, 2km south of The Rock, about 12.50pm.
The Commodore allegedly deliberately drove in the direction of the police vehicle, causing the officer to take evasive action to avoid a collision.
Police monitored the Commodore as it continued travelling on the highway, through The Rock and Uranquinty townships.
The Holden Commodore was seen stopped on the incorrect side of the highway, about 5km north of Uranquinty.
As officers approached, a woman and man were seen allegedly attempting to steal a Mazda BT50 utility being driven by a man and forced off the road by the Commodore.
Police arrested a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman and took them to Wagga Wagga Police Station.
The woman was charged with receive etc property stolen outside NSW, police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it-in company, common assault, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
The man was charged with aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it-in company, two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical/mental harm (domestic), be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and an outstanding warrant.
Both were refused bail and will appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Wednesday 21 November 2018).
