Two people have appeared in court charged with 17 offences following an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs at Lake Macquarie.
In December 2022, officers attached to the Hunter Region Enforcement Squad (RES) established Strike Force Journal to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the Lake Macquarie area.
Following inquires, a search warrant was executed at a property on Quarry Road, Speers Point, on Sunday 8 December 2022, with police locating 27 litres of '1,4-Butanediol' with an estimated street value of $218,000.
Police also located and seized methylamphetamine, suboxone strips, cash, and an alleged stolen ebike.
Two people were arrested at premises and taken to Toronto Police Station where they were charged with a combined total of 17 drug related offences.
A 48-year-old Speers Point man was charged with 11 offences including two counts of supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug - indictable quantity, supply prohibited drug - large commercial quantity, supply cannabis - indictable quantity, two counts of possess prohibited drug, two counts of deal with property proceeds of crime, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.
A 39-year-old Cardiff woman was charged with six offences including two counts of supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug - indictable quantity, two counts of possess prohibited drug, and deal with property proceeds of crime.
They both appeared at Toronto Local Court on Monday 9 December 2022 where the man was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Tuesday 18 April 2023 and the woman was granted conditional bail to appear before the same court on Tuesday 4 April 2023.
