Two men will face court today charged over several alleged property and driving offences.
Between September 2024 and October 2024, police attached to New England Police District investigated reports of several break and enter incidents at commercial premises in Armidale.
Police will allege in court that the incidents were linked and included the theft of property including cash and multiple vehicles.
Following extensive inquiries, police attended two homes in Armidale yesterday (Thursday 24 October 2024) where two men, aged 18 and 23, were arrested and taken to Armidale Police Station.
The 18-year-old man was charged with 15 offences:
- Three counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner,
- Three counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal,
- Two counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company damage property,
- Two counts of attempted aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company damage property,
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner,
- Never licensed person drive vehicle on road,
- Destroy etc property in company use fire etc,
- Steal motor vehicle, and
- Commit s 112(1) offence and disseminate.
The 23-year-old man was charged with 29 offences:
- Five counts of break and enter house etc steal,
- Three counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal,
- Three counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner,
- Three counts of Destroy or damage property,
- Three counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company damage property,
- Two counts of attempted aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company damage property,
- Two counts of attempted break and enter house etc steal,
- Two counts of attempted break and enter house etc destroy etc property,
- Break and enter house etc destroy etc property,
- Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence,
- Break and enter dwelling house etc with intent,
- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner,
- Licence expired within the last 2 years, and
- Larceny.
Both men were refused bail to appear before Armidale Local Court today (Friday 25 October 2024).
