Two Charged in Lake Macquarie Break-In Case

A man and woman have been charged following a break and enter investigation which led to a vehicle stop at Lake Macquarie yesterday.

About 4.30am on Monday 20 January 2025, police were called to a cafe on Hillsborough Road, Warners Bay, following reports of a break and enter.

Police were told a man forced entry to the cafe before allegedly stealing a speaker.

The man left the scene in a ute, alleged to have been stolen from Cardiff Heights.

About 3.50pm on Tuesday 21 January 20025, police were patrolling Docker Street, Marks Point, when they stopped the ute; a subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly revealed number plates, jewellery, keys, garage remotes, and tools, suspected of being stolen.

Police will allege that two knives were also located in the vehicle.

A 24-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station.

The man was charged with 12 offences,

  • Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner (two counts)
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner
  • Break and enter house etc steal
  • Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen
  • Deal with property proceeds of crime
  • Unlawfully possess number plates
  • Steal motor vehicle
  • Larceny, and
  • Custody of knife in public place (two counts).

Two warrants were also executed for unrelated offences.

He was refused bail to appear before Belmont Local Court today (Wednesday 22 January 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Wednesday 5 March 2025.

The woman was charged with two counts of goods in person custody suspected being stolen, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and deal with property proceeds of crime.

She was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Belmont Local Court on Wednesday 5 February 2025.
