Two Charged in Launceston Theft Cases

Two people have been separately charged over stealing incidents in Launceston in recent months.

A 58-year-old man has been charged with 32 offences after he allegedly stole more than $6000 worth of property from Launceston supermarkets and businesses over the past three months.

The man was bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates court in October.

A 16-year-old has also been charged with 9 offences including burglary and stealing in relation to a number of recent thefts from Launceston CBD businesses.

The youth allegedly entered multiple businesses, stealing approximately $1500 worth of alcohol.

The youth was bailed with strict conditions to appear in the Youth Justice Division of the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.

The two people charged are not linked.

Police continue to encourage businesses to follow their crime prevention advice to deter opportunistic thieves.
