Two teenage boys will face court charged over alleged property and driving offences following an investigation by police.
About 10.30pm on Thursday 23 January 2025, police were called to Dulconghi Street, Crescent Head, following reports of a break and enter.
At the scene, police were told teenagers allegedly entered the home and assaulted an 85-year-old resident before leaving in the man's car and taking his wallet.
The man sustained a minor injury and declined medical treatment.
Officers from the Mid North Coast Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into the incident under Strike Force Contrition.
Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 15-year-old boy at a home near Kempsey earlier today (Monday 24 February 2025).
He was taken to Kempsey Police Station where he was charged with participate in criminal group contribute criminal activity, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and never licensed person drive vehicle on road.
He was refused bail to appear before a children's court tomorrow (Tuesday 25 February 2025).
Following further inquiries, police arrested a second 15-year-old boy at Kempsey Police Station this afternoon (Monday 24 February 2025).
There he was charged with ten offences:
- Breach of bail
- Robbery in company
- Participate criminal group contribute criminal activity
- Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence (two counts)
- Break and enter house etc steal value less than $60,000
- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
- Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner
- Never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.
Police will allege the boy was involved in several other incidents in Armidale and Sawtell, further to the incident at Crescent Head.
He was refused bail to appear before a children's court tomorrow (Tuesday 25 February 2025).
