Two people have been arrested and charged following a number of alleged break and enters on the South Coast.
About 11am yesterday (Wednesday 22 January 2025), police attached to Nowra Police District executed two simultaneous search warrants at a home in Clarendon Crescent Basin View and a unit in Hillcrest Street, Wollongong.
Two firearms were seized from Basin View, along with items police will allege were stolen.
An 18-year-old man was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station.
He was charged with twelve offences - steal motor vehicle, four counts of aggravated B&E dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60000, four counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, possess unauthorised firearm, possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority and goods suspected stolen in/on premises (motor vehicle).
A 38-year-old woman at the Basin View home had her firearms license suspended.
About 1.30pm, officers arrested a 19-year-old man in Leonard Street, Bomaderry. He was taken to Nowra Police Station.
He was charged with nine offences - three counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60000, aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence in company – steal greater than $60,000, four counts of take and drive conveyance without consent and steal motor vehicle.
Both were refused bail to appear in Nowra Local Court today (Thursday 23 January 2025).
Police will allege in court, during December 2024 and January 2025, four homes in West Nowra, Huskisson and Vincentia were broken into, while the home owners were asleep and stole a total of four cars and two motorcycles.
