Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad have charged two men in relation to their investigation into two linked alleged abduction and sexual assault incidents from over 30 years ago.
A 61-year-old Kalorama man was arrested by police in Kalorama earlier today and subsequently interviewed.
He has been charged with 38 offences including abduction by force and aggravated rape.
A 56-year-old man currently in corrections custody was also interviewed by police earlier today and has now also been charged with the same 38 offences.
The Kalorama man will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court this afternoon.
The second man will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 14 June.
The charges relate to two alleged incidents where female victims were abducted and sexually assaulted.
The first incident occurred in South Yarra on 22 November, 1985 and the second incident occurred in Nunawading on 26 March, 1986.
Both incidents have been subject to recent public appeals by investigators and a $350,000 reward for information was offered.
