Two Charged: Train Trespass, Assault, Theft

Two teens have been charged after an alleged trespass, serious assault and stealing on board Sydney trains last week.

About 9.30pm on Sunday 30 March 2025, police commenced an investigation after reports two males had entered the crew cabin of a train travelling between Central and Strathfield Railway Stations.

About 3.30pm on Wednesday 2 April 2025, police were told a group of teenagers allegedly assaulted a security guard as he attempted to stop them from entering the driver's cabin of a train.

A member of the group stole the security guards' phone and threw it on the tracks.

The train arrived at Strathfield Railway Station, where the group ran from the location.

About 6.10pm on Thursday 4 April 2025, police were called after a group of teenagers allegedly stole the keys from a security guard out of the driver's cabin.

Officers attached to the Police Transport Command North West commenced an investigation and following extensive inquiries, an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested at St James Railway Station, about 5.40pm Tuesday (8 April 2025) and taken to Day Street Police Station.

Yesterday (Wednesday 9 April 2025), a search warrant was executed at a home in Malabar by Police Transport Command North West, where police allegedly located and seized 55 train target boards, 22 bus number plates and one car number plate.

The 18-year-old was charged with common assault, passenger enter crew compartment of train without permission (two counts), steal from the person, and endanger safety of person on railway.

He was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court yesterday, where he was granted conditional bail to appear before the same court on Wednesday 16 April 2025.

The 15-year-old was charged with common assault, passenger enter crew compartment of train without permission (two counts), endanger safety of person on railway, and larceny.

He was refused bail to appear before a children's court yesterday where he was granted conditional bail to appear before children's court again on Wednesday 14 May 2025.

Investigations continue in relation to the incidents.
