Police have charged two men with stealing and recovered approximately $750 of stolen property after two separate alleged shoplifting incidents in the greater-Devonport area today.
Earlier this morning, police were alerted to two separate shoplifting incidents allegedly occurring in Devonport and Sheffield.
Police will allege they located two men nearby where the offences occurred, and in possession of property believed to be stolen.
A 27-year-old Hobart man was arrested after allegedly being found with approximately $350 of stolen grocery items.
A 44-year-old Devonport man was arrested after allegedly being found with approximately $400 of stolen clothing and food items.
Both men have been charged with stealing and bailed to appear in court at a later date.
"Police recognise the impacts that shoplifting has on local businesses and the community as a whole," said Inspector Shane LeFevre.
"We will continue to work with businesses and proactively target individuals who chose to do the wrong thing in our community."
