Two Children Die After Sydenham Fire

Two children have died this morning following a house fire in Sydenham earlier this week.

Emergency services were called to a Fergus Court property shortly after 9.30pm on Sunday, 8 September.

Firefighters entered the home and located a five-year-old girl, three-year-old boy and one-year-old girl.

All were treated immediately at the scene before being taken to hospital.

The two girls passed away surrounded by family in hospital this morning, while the boy remains in a critical condition.

Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad are investigating the fire, including what may have caused it and who was in the property at the time and just prior to the blaze.

This investigation remains ongoing.
