Two dead after plane crashes at Appin

Two people have died following a plane crash in Sydney's south-west.

Shortly before 3pm today (Monday 26 December 2022), emergency services responded to reports of a scrub fire in bushland near the vicinity of Appin Road and Colliery Road, Appin.

Following an extensive search of the area crews located a light plane with two deceased persons.

They are yet to be formally identified.

Officers from Campbelltown Police Area Command have established a crime scene.

Police will work with Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) investigators as inquiries into the circumstance surrounding crash continue.
