Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have charged a man following an alleged aggravated home invasion in Templestowe Lower last week.
With assistance from the Special Operations Group, two men were arrested in Carlisle Street in Balaclava around 4.30pm yesterday.
A 35-year-old Lalor man was yesterday charged with a range of offences, including:
- aggravated home invasion (firearm)
- reckless conduct endanger life
- intentionally cause serious injury
- recklessly cause serious injury
- false imprisonment
- two counts of common law assault
- possess cocaine
- possess controlled weapon.
He was remanded overnight to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
A 43-year-old man from Point Cook also arrested remains in hospital under police guard for a pre-existing injury.
He is expected to be charged later today.
Police seized a quantity of cash, two knives, OC spray and a quantity of what appears to be cocaine during the arrests.
The charges follow an incident where emergency services were called to Linton Avenue just before 1am on Thursday, 16 November after reports a home was broken into and a shot was fired.
Officers have been told that four people were home at the time.
One of the occupants, a 32-year-old man, was allegedly assaulted and taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
No one else was physically injured during the incident.
At this stage, police believe the parties involved were known to each other.
