A man has been charged with assault after two men were injured in a road rage incident in Sydney's CBD yesterday.
About 7.50pm (Friday 4 June 2021), the driver of a white Toyota Camry allegedly kicked the driver side door of a taxi on Liverpool Street, causing the mirror to break off.
The driver of the taxi, a man aged 57, exited his vehicle when the Camry driver, a man aged 31, allegedly punched him several times around the head.
A second man, aged 22, attempted to intervene and was also allegedly assaulted by the 31-year-old man.
The 31-year-old returned to his car and removed a piece of timber from the boot before allegedly threatening the two men.
He was restrained by members of the public and arrested by officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command.
He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station before being conveyed to St Vincent's Hospital for medical treatment.
The 57-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Sydney Eye Hospital for treatment. The 22-year-old man did not require medical assistance.
Upon returning to Surry Hills Police Station, the 31-year-old was charged with destroy or damage property, two counts of common assault, use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, and possess prohibited drug.
The Punchbowl man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 5 June 2021).
