A man will appear in court today after being charged over an alleged break and enter at St Peters.
About 1.15am Sunday (23 June 2024), police were called to a unit block on the Princes Highway, St Peters, following reports of a break and enter.
On arrival, three officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command confronted two males in an underground car park.
The two males entered a white Volkswagen Golf. When police attempted to stop the car, the vehicle allegedly drove directly at a constable.
The officer drew their weapon, and a single shot was fired at the vehicle before it allegedly fled the scene.
Detectives from Inner West established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
About 2am, emergency services were called to an underground car park on Harris Street, Pyrmont, following reports of a car fire.
The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.
Following investigations, police identified the damaged vehicle was the same vehicle from the earlier incident.
About 3pm Tuesday (25 June 2024), a 31-year-old man, who was in police custody on an unrelated matter, was arrested at Newtown Police Station.
He was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal
He was refused bail and appeared before Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 26 June 2024), where he was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 9 July 2024.
Following further inquiries, about 1:40pm yesterday, officers executed a search warrant on a property on Astoria Circuit, Maroubra.
When officers entered the property, a man allegedly attempted to flee by jumping from a window.
The 37-year-old was arrested and taken to St Vincent's Hospital for treatment for an alleged suspected gunshot wound.
He was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal
He was refused bail and will appear in court via a bedside hearing today (Thursday 27 June 2024).
A 41-year-old woman was also arrested at the Maroubra property for an unrelated outstanding warrant.
Investigations are ongoing.
