Two MLA Workshops Coming To Kidman Springs, NT

Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) is bringing two of its most popular producer adoption workshops to the Victoria River Research Station in Kidman Springs, Northern Territory.

On Monday August 19, MLA will host a BredWell FedWell (BWFW) workshop which will focus on how the combination of good genetics and nutrition can have a positive impact a producer's bottom line.

Then on August 20-21, the Victoria River Research Station will play host to BeefUp, a forum designed with the Northern Territory Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade for producers to hear about the latest in local and world-leading research and technologies for the northern beef industry.

BredWell FedWell helps producers apply the outcomes of the most up to date genetics and nutrition research to their businesses by looking at each stage of the annual production cycle in detail.

During the workshop, attendees can also examine their own feed supply and demand and critically consider their approaches to feeding to maximise their genetic investment.

Producers will learn skills to:

  • help them develop a customised breeding plan aligned to their profit drivers
  • identify sires and select animals that help meet their breeding objective
  • plan to feed their animals to achieve their breeding objective.

At BeefUp, producers will hear about:

  • global research underway across the areas of livestock management, nutrition, health, feedbase, land management, environment and supply chain
  • market insights and future market opportunities
  • trials and application of new technologies in your region
  • adoption programs, tools and resources for everyone.

Attendees can choose to either pay $200 for the BWFW, $50 for the BeefUp or $250 for both. Meals will be provided, and they will have to camp out on the beautiful Victoria River Research Station grounds.
