Two New Judges Join Victoria's Judiciary

Adrian Finanzio SC has been appointed to the Supreme Court and Justin Lewis SC to the County Court.

Mr Finanzio started his legal career as a solicitor at Maddocks (then Maddock Lonie & Chisholm) in 1995. He signed the bar roll in 1998 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2012. Mr Finanzio was counsel assisting the Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence in 2021.

Before that he was a director of Barristers' Chambers Limited between 2011 and 2021 and served as Vice President of the Victorian Planning and Environmental Law Association between 2010 and 2017.

Mr Finanzio will replace retired Supreme Court Judge Anthony Cavanough.

Mr Lewis was appointed a Crown Prosecutor in 2014 and was promoted to Senior Crown Prosecutor in 2023 and appointed Senior Counsel in 2024.

Before joining the Office of Public Prosecutions, Mr Lewis practised in both commercial and criminal law as a barrister from 2003 to 2014.

Prior to this, Mr Lewis worked as a solicitor at Richmond & Bennison from 1995 to 2003, before signing the bar roll in 2003.
