Over the weekend, two Queenslanders, one each from Townsville and the Gold Coast, found themselves on the receiving end of a life-changing surprise, each winning about $1.3 million in the Saturday Lotto. Yet, the twist in this tale is that they might still be in the dark about their massive windfall.
Both players held one of the four division one winning entries in the Saturday Lotto draw 4403, conducted on 30 September 2023. Each of their tickets secured a division one prize of $1,266,906.25. But, since neither of these winning entries were registered to a player card, lottery officials are in anticipation, waiting for the winners to step forward after checking their tickets.
One of these winning tickets was procured from The Lucky Charm Townsville, situated at Stockland Plaza, Townsville. The outlet's owners, Morris and Annette Peluchetti, couldn't hold back their excitement about another division one win at their establishment.
"We’re very excited as we haven’t had a division one winner for some time – give or take about eight years!” Morris shared.
“All the customers have been very happy for our mystery winner. We hope they discover their prize soon so they can enjoy the win and we hope it makes life much easier for them.”
The other lucky ticket was sold at Paperboxx Robina in the Robina Town Centre. Harmony Rankin, the team leader at Paperboxx Robina, was on cloud nine upon learning of the win.
“We couldn't believe it! We've sold a few division two winning tickets – including one in last Saturday's draw – but never a division one!” she voiced her astonishment.
“Our regular customers who come in every week are going to be so excited to see that we've finally sold the big one! They've been saying they want to see a division one plaque up on our wall for a long time!”
The Lott's spokesperson, Matt Hart, voiced his hopes of the winners coming forward promptly.
“These two winners are likely oblivious they each became millionaires over the long weekend,” he noted.
“We’re urging anyone who purchased a Saturday Gold Lotto ticket in Townsville or on the Gold Coast to check their tickets today!”
For the number enthusiasts, the winning digits for the draw were 20, 45, 43, 27, 6, and 29, and the supplementary numbers were 36 and 9. On a national scale, the draw produced four division one winning entries - two from Queensland and one each from New South Wales and Western Australia.
