Two steam trains will operate side by side through Sydney today, as they make their way to Newcastle and Maitland.
The Southern Hemisphere's largest operating steam locomotive, Beyer-Garratt 6029, will operate alongside 107-year-old steam locomotive 3526 on two separate tracks between Denistone and Pennant Hills, passing through Eastwood and Epping on the T9 Northern Line.
The locomotives form part of the State's rail heritage collection managed by Transport Heritage NSW. Both trains will be operating steam train rides through the Hunter Valley as part of the 2024 Hunter Valley Steamfest in Maitland.
