Two Vehicles Seized in Clarendon Vale Incident: Tasmania Police

Tasmania Police has today seized two vehicles as investigations into incidents of hooning and disorderly conduct in Clarendon Vale over the weekend continues.

Inspector Andrew Keane said that about 3pm last Saturday, police received a number of calls from residents in the area of Bradman Street, relating to a gathering of people hooning, disorderly conduct, including burnouts and setting off fireworks.

As behaviour continued to escalate, additional police attended. Items including bricks and fireworks were thrown at officers, and the vehicle belonging to one of the offenders was set alight.

Four police vehicles were damaged, but no injuries were reported.

"This type of behaviour is unacceptable in our communities. It is fortunate that no one was injured, including our officers whose safety was put at risk," Inspector Keane said.

"Tasmania Police will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and is committed to hold people who engaged in such activities to account.

"As a result, Tasmania Police established a taskforce to identify offenders, conduct searches, seize vehicles and lay charges."

Police have today:

• Seized two vehicles

• Seized quantities of drugs (cannibis), cash, fireworks and flares

• Conducted 27 searches of residences and vehicles

• A man has been charged with drug driving

• Three other people will be proceeded against via summons for traffic offences

• Arrested a man in relation to an outstanding warrant

• A number of infringement notices and defect notices were also issued in relation to traffic offences

Investigations are continuing, and further charges are expected to be laid.
