- Another familiar face has joined the cast of "Transformers: The Last Knight". Tyrese Gibson confirmed in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight at the 2016 BET Awards on Sunday, June 26 that he's going to reprise his role as Richard Epps in the fifth installment in the "Transformers" film franchise, AceShowbiz said.
Gibson revealed his involvement in the movie while talking about his busy summer next year. "Let's just say 2017, summertime, it's going to be a lot of energy out there in the universe: 'Fast 8', 'Transformers 5'," said the actor, who has also been filming the eighth "Fast and Furious" flick.
The 37-year-old star then officially announced his return as Epps on Monday, when he shared on Instagram a photo and a video of him posing with director Michael Bay on the filming set. "Rumor has it............ Nah.... Robert Epps is back!!!!!! #T5 summer 2017 just got even more interesting...... @MichaelBay aka #MrImAlwaysAwesomer," he captioned it.
Gibson has played the character in all previous "Transformers" films, excluding 2014's "Transformers: Age of Extinction". In the fifth film, which is opening in theaters across the nation on June 23, 2017, he's joining Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins and Isabela Moner.
"Fast and Furious 8", meanwhile, is set for release on April 12, 2017.
