The American College of Radiology (ACR) has recognized UC Davis Medical Center as a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center (CBIC). The new designation acknowledges facilities that achieve excellence in women's health by participating in rigorous quality assurance programs.
The CBIC designation is considered prestigious because it is awarded only after the ACR performs an independent, comprehensive assessment of the medical imaging facility. In this case, the evaluation took place at the main Breast Radiology location at the UC Davis Health Lawrence J. Ellison Ambulatory Care Center in Sacramento.
To receive the CBIC designation, a center must be fully accredited by the ACR in mammography, breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound.
"We are very proud to provide the whole region with the very highest level of breast imaging services available," said Shadi Aminololama-Shakeri, chief of the Division of Breast Radiology. "Our entire team makes this seal of quality and excellence possible for our patients and allows us to deliver the very highest quality of care that patients come to expect from UC Davis."
