The American College of Radiology (ACR) has recognized UC Davis Medical Center as a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center (CBIC). The new designation acknowledges facilities that achieve excellence in women's health by participating in rigorous quality assurance programs.

The CBIC designation is considered prestigious because it is awarded only after the ACR performs an independent, comprehensive assessment of the medical imaging facility. In this case, the evaluation took place at the main Breast Radiology location at the UC Davis Health Lawrence J. Ellison Ambulatory Care Center in Sacramento.
To receive the CBIC designation, a center must be fully accredited by the ACR in mammography, breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound.

National Mammography Database
Facilities achieving and maintaining the CBIC designation are invited to participate in the ACR National Mammography Database (NMD). The benefits of participation allow UC Davis Health to:
