For the second year in a row, U.S. News & World Report has ranked University of Florida as the top institution in the country to offer an online bachelor's degree for veterans and active-duty service members. The rankings organization also named UF as the country's No. 1 university to earn an online bachelor's degree in business.
The top veterans ranking recognizes student retention and graduation rates, faculty credentials and UF's certification for participation in the GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon program, which provide tuition and other benefits for veterans. The ranking acknowledges UF's tradition of support to U.S. military members, many of whom pursue their degrees from around the world.
"We are deeply grateful for our veterans and active-duty service members, and UF recognizes and honors their unique experiences, contributions, and sacrifices," said Scott Angle, UF's provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. "At the heart of the university's commitment to excellence is a profound belief in the transformative power of education, and we are proud to offer customized opportunities for our veterans and many other students who benefit from the flexibility and access available online."
Further, the UF online program ranked No. 1 in several categories including faculty with terminal degree, tech support for faculty, services available to students, technologies available to students and student assessments.
U.S. News also recognized UF's overall online bachelor's degree program as No. 2 in the country and ranked several specific programs as among the nation's best. The online bachelor's degree program in psychology ranked No. 3, the online master's program in education ranked No. 2 and the online master's in business administration ranked No. 6.
UF Online is consistently recognized as among the top online bachelor's degree programs in the country, offering 25 degree options from 10 colleges with several academic specializations. The program provides pathways for traditional and non-traditional students, including veterans, mid-career professionals, and people with a variety of life circumstances who benefit from the flexibility and access available online.
"The success of UF's online degree programs exemplifies the university's commitment to high-quality offerings across platforms," said Rhiannon Pollard, UF Online interim director. "The faculty and staff affiliated with our nationally recognized online programs provide an impactful, fulfilling and supportive online educational environment that results in exceptional student outcomes."
The rankings reflect a time of significant momentum and excellence at UF. In September, the Wall Street Journal ranked UF the No. 1 public institution in the country, reaffirming UF's status as an academic powerhouse in high-quality research, innovation, educational excellence, student experiences and technology transfer. UF also continues to reach new heights in research, raising its research spending 15% year-over-year in 2023 to a record $1.25 billion.
