The United Kingdom is deeply concerned at the deteriorating human rights and security situation in Mali, following the withdrawal of the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). Renewed conflict in the north not only affects Mali but also affects regional stability. We urge the Malian transitional authorities to recommit to an inclusive peace process.
Credible reports of summary executions, arbitrary detention, torture, and conflict-related sexual violence persist, including by the Malian armed forces and Russian proxies present in Mali.
We therefore call on the authorities to urgently investigate all allegations of violations and abuses and ensure full compliance with international humanitarian law and international human rights law. Ending impunity is the only way to promote peace and security.

The Independent Expert's mandate has never been more crucial. We urge the Malian transitional authorities to strengthen their cooperation with the Expert, including through facilitating visits and taking further steps to implement the recommendations made in their annual report.
