The Mayor is pictured above with Dr Ruthnam at the opening.
Congratulations to all those people in Ulong who have worked so hard for many years to provide a health service for the township - particularly Carol Cleary, Estell Wade, the NSW Health Department and NSW TAFE Nurses, Northside Health, Ingrid Siverton, Lisa Taffe and Dr Jay Ruthnam.
I was delighted to be asked along recently to the opening of the Health Hub in Ulong Hall which will play host to a monthly GP consultation under the auspices of Dr Ruthnam.
This is in addition to the regular first aid training, 24-hour accessible community defib, women's health clinic and monthly Health Check clinics run by wonderful TAFE nurses that already operate out there.
Doctors can also be accessed via a visual hook-up with the assistance of the nurses, through a Telehealth program which Council was proud to fund through the 2021 Community Organisation Assistance Grants.
This great initiative is a result of many passionate community organisations coming together, listening to community needs and working together to find creative solutions.
Well done all!
SWIFF Success
2021 is turning out to be another triumphant success for the wonderful Screenwave International Film Festival, or SWIFF.
We all know that we have a community filled with passion for the arts and culture - people who have worked long and hard to ensure we can celebrate the arts in all its forms.
I think I speak for us all when I say we're extremely grateful to the ever-popular SWIFF team for being so courageous back in 2015 and starting SWIFF from scratch.
It can only get bigger and better.
