- Australian-exclusive HSBC SVNS brings the world's best 24 men's and women's rugby teams to Perth for second year
- Three days of sport and entertainment to kick-off at HBF Park today
- Forms part of WA Government's events strategy to boost visitation, generate millions for the economy and support local jobs
The Australian-exclusive leg of the HSBC SVNS tournament kicks off in Perth today, running over the long weekend for a second year.
The three-day festival of fun and rugby at HBF Park attracts the world's top rugby nations to play an alternative, fast-paced rugby union format, which involves seven players competing in seven-minute halves in a tournament with round robin and knockout matches.
The 2024 SVNS tournament in Perth was a massive success, attracting 48,000 fans over three days, including over 3,600 out-of-state visitors who injected $7.4 million into the State's economy.
Last year's tournament saw the final day in Perth completely sell out, which was a world-first for the SVNS competition.
The Perth event will be broadcast to a massive global audience, pushing Western Australia further into the spotlight as an international sports hub on the same level as other host cities like Cape Town, Dubai, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Singapore and Vancouver.
The 2025 SVNS homegrown entertainment line-up includes performances by Voyager featuring Perth Symphony Orchestra's INNEKA, Southern River Band, and Adrian Dzvuke, as well as a premium food market and lively beach club, in addition to the world-class rugby matches.
Tickets start at just $30 across all three days of action.
The tournament is the latest in a string of major and international rugby events taking place in WA in 2025, including June's British & Irish Lions Tour and October's Bledisloe Cup, as the nation continues its Golden Decade of rugby in the lead-up to the Rugby World Cup, with the men's to take place in 2027 and the women's in 2029.
SVNS is supported by the WA Government in partnership with World Rugby.

As stated by Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:
"Perth is sure to be buzzing with energy this weekend when the SVNS returns to WA for another three days of exclusive sport and entertainment, bringing with it some of the world's top rugby nations for a fast-paced rugby rivalry.
"After last year's SVNS brought over 3,600 people to WA and generated $7.4 million for the State's economy, it's fantastic to see it return for a second year.
"We know that hosting these types of exclusive, blockbuster events generates millions of dollars in visitor spend and boosts local hospitality, accommodation and tourism businesses, which is why they form a key part of our vision to make Perth and WA the fastest-growing events capital in the South East Asia region."
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman:
"It's very exciting to see SVNS return to Perth this weekend. Between the action-packed short matches, the roaming performers, high-energy entertainment, and of course the event's iconic costumes and dress-ups, this event adds so much vibrancy to our city.
"It's fantastic to see a diverse lineup of homegrown talent including Voyager, Southern River Band and Adrian Dzvuke take to the stage to soundtrack the weekend's festivities, adding to the atmosphere that makes SVNS so popular.
"After last year's tremendously successful final day sellout, I encourage everyone to get their tickets early to ensure they don't miss out on all the action of one of the summer's biggest sport and music events."
