UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk is due to arrive in Venezuela today at the start of an official mission, at the invitation of the Government.
During his visit, the High Commissioner will meet with senior government officials, representatives of civil society organizations, human rights defenders, representatives of victim's groups, heads of UN entities, and diplomats.
At the end of his mission, on Saturday 28 January, the High Commissioner will hold a news conference in Caracas at approximately 12:00 local time. Access to the news conference will be strictly limited to accredited media.
More details about the news conference, including instructions on registration, will follow in a media invitation to be issued locally.
