The following submission by United Nations Watch was made to the Human Rights Council and published as an official document of the 58th session of the Human Rights Council.
A/HRC/58/NGO/223: Report: Hamas Torture of Israelis on and after October 7th
Excerpt: On 7 October 2023, Hamas led a brutal assault on Israeli civilians in Israel, slaughtering 1200 men, women, and children, injuring over 5,000, and taking 251 people as hostages. During the course of that assault, in violation of multiple articles of the Convention, Hamas and other non-State terrorist groups in Gaza such as Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) inflicted countless instances of torture against Israeli civilians. Similarly, Hamas, PIJ, and others have repeatedly violated the Convention with regards to their torturous, cruel, and inhuman treatment of the 251 hostages abducted into Gaza on 7 October 2023.
A/HRC/58/NGO/224: Report Concerning Genocide Libel Promoted by Special Rapporteur on Food
Excerpt: United Nations Watch is alarmed by the October 2024 report to the General Assembly by UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food Michael Fakhri, titled Starvation and the right to food, with an emphasis on the Palestinian people’s food sovereignty (A/79/171). Mr. Fakhri’s report promotes the genocide libel against Israel based on the false accusation, which has been thoroughly debunked, that Israel is using “starvation as a tactic of genocide” in Gaza. In doing so, the report omits critical, countervailing facts that mandate the exact opposite conclusion, rejects Israel’s right to exist, makes unsupported claims, promotes Hamas misinformation, and contains blatant antisemitism.
