The UN Women Executive Board will convene for its first regular session from Monday 10 to Tuesday 11 February 2025 in person at UN headquarters in New York.
The President of the Executive Board, H.E. Ms. Nicola Clase, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations, will open the session on 10 February at 10am EST. UN Women Executive Director, Ms. Sima Bahous, will then deliver her statement to the membership.
Over the two days, the Executive Board will receive updates on audit matters, including:
- presentations on the financial report and audited financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2023;
- the Report of the Board of Auditors on the financial statements for the year of 31 December 2023;
- implementation of the recommendations of the Board of Auditors contained in its reports on the United Nations funds and programmes for the year ended 31 December 2023; and
- updated status of UN Women management actions to address outstanding audit recommendations.
The Executive Board will also discuss progress made on the consideration of the JIU review of governance and oversight of the Executive Boards of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS, UNICEF, and UN Women and receive updates on UN Women's continuous work to improve the system of enterprise risk management and organizational culture and actions taken to prevent and respond to all forms of discrimination.
The Executive Board will further receive an update from the Ombudsman and discuss organizational matters, anti-discrimination, and anti-racism in the organization.
In addition, the Executive Board will receive a presentation on follow-up and implementation of the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board recommendations and decisions and hear an address by the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS and UN Women Staff Council, as well as the related management action.
